Class features (used or adapted)

  • Cunning Action mechanics (Rogue feature: the component actions Dash, Hide and Disengage are used, without the "Cunning Action" name itself).
  • Rage (Barbarian feature, used in simplified form).
  • Relentless Endurance (Half-Orc trait, used as "Relentless" on Brick's sheet).
  • Lucky (Halfling trait, used in simplified form as "Lucky" on Sneaky Sam's sheet, a once-per-session reroll).
  • Bardic Inspiration (Bard feature, used directly).
  • Flurry of Blows, Step of the Wind, Deflect Missiles (Monk features, used in renamed/simplified forms as "Flurry", "Speed Burst", "Reaction – Catch").

Monsters & monster traits (used or adapted, all from SRD 5.1)

  • Goblin, Goblin Boss

  • Skeleton
  • Giant Spider
  • Mimic
  • Giant Wasp
  • Will-o'-Wisp (printed as "Will-o'-the-Wisp")
  • Owlbear

  • Hobgoblin (creature and name; this kit's Hobgoblin Sergeant is an original stat block built on it).
  • Wraith (SRD undead; the original Shadow Wraith draws on it plus the incorporeal-movement mechanic below).
  • The Pack Tactics trait.
  • Incorporeal-movement mechanics (used on Shadow Wraith and Will-o'-the-Wisp).

What is original to this kit (not from SRD)

The following are original to this kit and are not derived from the SRD:

  • The Lightborn and Catfolk player kinds as named, including all flavor.
  • The Hobgoblin Sergeant stat block as written.
  • The Shadow Wraith stat block (an original combination drawing on SRD mechanics; the name itself is original).
  • Cave Troll's specific "regenerates unless burned this round" mechanic and the way the bestiary frames fire as an encounter beat.
  • The zone-based movement system (Close / Near / Far).
  • The five-condition list (Distracted, Hidden, Stunned, Down, Blessed) and its specific effects.
  • The "8 / 12 / 16" tiered DC system.
  • The "Going first" initiative rule (replacing 5e's initiative roll).
  • The "Down, not dead" damage-recovery rule.
  • The dual-trigger refresh rule for X/day abilities ("long rest or session-start, whichever first").
  • The Three-Tag damage system (Hates Fire / Shrugs Off Arrows / Magic-Only).
  • The "What You're Good At" character-sheet block as a mechanic (granting advantage on off-sheet rolls).
  • The seven pregenerated characters as named (Ash of Ironhold, Zap the Unhinged, Sneaky Sam, Brick, Lumi, Whiskers Nightpaw, Bard.exe), their catchphrases, role descriptors, and personality.
  • All other prose, examples, encounter recipes, GM guidance, and layout decisions.
