The tabletop adventure game where nobody dies and everybody gets a catchphrase.

Brave and Bonkers is a complete roleplaying game for kids ages 6–12, and for the grown-up who gets talked into running it. One rulebook, seven ready-to-play heroes, one page each. Read it cold at the kitchen table and play tonight.

Free means free. The full rules, all seven heroes, the monsters and the first adventure, without an account or an email address.

The seven heroes of Brave and Bonkers, together

Nobody dies.

Heroes get knocked Down, get back up, and win something every session. It's why a cautious parent can say yes.

One page per hero.

Everything your kid needs to know about their character fits on one spacious page. If the sheet doesn't say it, they don't need it.

Play tonight.

A 60-minute bite-size session or a 2-hour standard one. No experience needed on either side of the table.

Three steps to your first adventure

  1. 1
A stack of freshly printed hero sheets

Download the free kit. The rulebook, seven hero sheets, the bestiary and Adventure 01, ready to print at home.

  2. 2
A set of RPG dice and two pencils

Grab dice and pencils. A set of RPG dice costs a few dollars; a free dice app works too.

  3. 3
An open rulebook with a dice cup beside it

Read one page, play tonight. The starter adventure is zero-prep: skim the setup, keep the book open, go.

For the grown-up holding the rulebook

You don't need to have played anything like this before. The rulebook is written to be read cold, the first adventure tells you exactly what to say, and the monsters are printed in the scene where you use them, so nothing sends you back to the rulebook mid-fight.

How to run your first session →
